A range of works with clear surrealist overtones and recurring motifs

Of course, not all of Dusti Bongé's surrealist works can be neatly categorized into just the Circus Series and the Keyhole People. She drew and painted a variety of other fascinating, and often enigmatic, works.

Dusti produced  quite a few surrealist portraits during this time. Some of these are portraits of real people, while some presumably are figments of her own imagination. These often exhibit the swirling lines and patterned qualities of her other surrealist works. The faces have slightly exagerated or distorted features.

In a very different vein, she created several works that were clearly inspired by her increasing interest in the practice of Zen Buddhism and the East Asian cultural & artistic influences that came with that interest. She learned how to master the quintessentially East-Asian method of ink brush painting. DUsti would revisit this interest in Zen Buddhism again in her later work in teh 1980s.
